Analysis of the implementation of Veterans Courts

The goal of the project is to explore the possibility of establishing Veterans Courts in Ukraine, modeled after the U.S. system. The project involved analytical research on international experience (particularly the functioning of Veterans Treatment Courts in the U.S.), an analysis of Ukrainian judicial practices and legislation, and the preparation of a final analytical report.

Roundtables were organized both online and offline, bringing together over 120 participants: representatives from ministries, judges, prosecutors, veteran and human rights organizations, as well as international experts.

Throughout the project, a judicial-rehabilitation procedure (JRP) framework was developed, along with a roadmap for its implementation. Reviews and expert opinions from academics, lawyers, and psychiatrists confirmed the urgent need for such a mechanism.

Thanks to the project, the topic of JRP became widely known: 46 media materials were prepared, including articles and interviews, reaching an audience of over 4.4 million people. At the final conference, the roadmap and its explanation were presented, laying the foundation for the development of a draft law and the pilot implementation of the mechanism.
